LYTES is passionate about protecting the planet for future generations. As Australia’s specialist electrolyte store, we are committed to running our business as responsibly and sustainably as we can, from parcel delivery to packaging and product waste.
Doing the right thing, one parcel at a time
Every order that leaves LYTES is an opportunity to make a better choice for the environment. We partner with Australia Post and carefully select packaging that supports recycling, composting and waste reduction wherever possible.
Sustainability is an ongoing journey. We regularly review our materials, freight options and product range so we can keep improving the way orders are packed, shipped and handled at every step.
Carbon neutral parcel deliveries
LYTES works with Australia Post to support carbon neutral parcel deliveries on eligible services. This helps offset the emissions from sending your electrolytes and supplements across Australia.
When you choose LYTES, you are supporting a delivery network that invests in projects designed to reduce or offset carbon emissions where possible.

Recycled, recyclable & compostable packaging
We carefully select customer packaging with sustainability in mind and aim to avoid unnecessary waste wherever we can. This includes:
- Boxes – Corrugated cardboard cartons that are recyclable in most kerbside recycling bins.
- Packing peanuts – Compostable peanuts made from plant-based starch. They dissolve in water and can usually go into home compost.
- Mailing bags – Soft plastic satchels that can be recycled through participating soft-plastic collection and recycling programs where available.
- Bubble wrap – Used only where extra protection is needed, and selected from recycled or recyclable soft-plastic options where possible.
Recycling rules vary by council and by state. Please check your local recycling guidelines for the most up to date advice on cardboard, compostable materials and soft plastics.
Supplier packaging & minimising product waste
Supplier packaging
Our suppliers send products to LYTES in cartons, void fill and protective materials of their own. Rather than sending this to landfill, we:
- Reuse suitable cartons and padding in outgoing customer orders
- Separate cardboard, paper and recyclable plastics for local recycling
- Work with local recycling and waste partners to responsibly process materials that cannot be reused
Minimising food & product waste
Electrolytes, supplements and functional foods all have either a "best before" or a "use by" date. LYTES works hard to minimise waste by:
- Offering short-date or “best before” products at reduced prices in our sale section
- Carefully managing stock rotation so older batches are sold first
- Ensuring products that approach their "use by" date are not sold, and instead are shared with staff or the local community where appropriate
You can often find excellent value on short-date items in our Sale & clearance collection. "Best before" relates to quality rather than safety, so these products can still be perfectly good to enjoy when handled and stored correctly.
