Our approach to sustainability
We try to run LYTES as responsibly as we can, from how your parcel is delivered to what it is packed in and what happens to stock near its date. It is an ongoing job, and we keep reviewing our materials, freight and range to do better.

Customer packaging
What your order is packed in
We choose packaging with recycling and composting in mind and avoid unnecessary waste wherever we can.
Boxes
Corrugated cardboard cartons, recyclable in most kerbside recycling bins.
Packing peanuts
Compostable peanuts made from plant based starch. They dissolve in water and can usually go into home compost.
Mailing bags
Soft plastic satchels you can recycle through participating soft plastic collection programs, where available.
Bubble wrap
Only where extra protection is needed, chosen from recycled or recyclable soft plastic options where possible.
Recycling rules vary by council and state. Please check your local guidelines for cardboard, compostable materials and soft plastics.
Carbon neutral parcel deliveries
LYTES works with Australia Post to support carbon neutral parcel deliveries on eligible services, which helps offset the emissions from sending your order across Australia. When you choose LYTES, you are supporting a delivery network that invests in projects designed to reduce or offset carbon emissions.

Behind the scenes
Supplier packaging and product waste
- Reuse supplier packaging
Suitable cartons and padding from our suppliers are reused in outgoing customer orders.
- Recycle locally
Cardboard, paper and recyclable plastics are separated for local recycling, and local partners process what can't be reused.
- Rotate stock carefully
Older batches are sold first, so less stock reaches its date on the shelf.
- Sell short date stock for less
Products near their best before date go into our sale section at reduced prices.
- Never sell past use by
Products that reach their use by date are not sold. Where appropriate they are shared with staff or the local community.
- Keep improving
We regularly review our materials, freight options and range to keep reducing waste.
